This adventurous half-day ride takes us up one of the most attractive ravines in the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the snow-capped mountains of the Andes. This gully is called the Pumahuanca Valley, which was once chosen as the private garden of the Inca King Pachacuteq because of its astounding natural beauty. We ride along a path following a crystal clear stream that trickles down from the Pumahuanca glacier. This area is always lush and it offers beautiful views of birds and native vegetation. At the highest point of the trail, we stop to visit the small archeological site of “Inca Racaqniyoc,” a former Incan settlement. Then we return back down the ravine along the same path. The beauty and tranquility of this ride make this trip an unforgettable journey through nature.

This fascinating full-day horseback ride consists of three important attractions: The Salineras salt mines, the small village of Maras, and the archeological site of Moray. We will discover these sites by following paths that connect us to pre-Incan history. The ride begins at our Ranch, located in the small community of the community half moon in the district of Maras, where we will review basic riding instructions. We will then ride up a steep path to the Salineras salt mines, where we will learn how the salt is produced and observe how the salt is collected by hand. Afterward, we will continue riding up to the quaint, colonial village of Maras and stop to have our picnic lunch surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of the Andes. We will then ride the horses through the valley to the archeological site of Moray, where we will stop to visit its impressive architecture and native crops. Once we have explored Moray, the adventure ends here, and your private transportation will take you back to your accommodation.
Please note, the ticket for the Moray archeological complex is not included.
